WHAT IS A MITE?
WHO: The AYHA Mite Program is for Mite age 8 and under. The mite age group can be a critical time in development because it is where foundational skills are instilled and developed.
LEVELS: Players are split into 4 small groups based on age and level.
PRACTICES: Mite age players practice 2 times a week on Wednesday and Friday evenings. They will also participate in multiple Jamborees (Game Events) at several surrounding association arenas. A list of Jamborees and dates will be handed out at the beginning of the season. Game day schedules will be sent out the week of the event.
WHAT HAPPENS AT PRACTICE: Each practice will consist of multiple stations focusing on a variety of skills of skating, stickhandling, shooting, passing, puck protection, battling and small area games. Follow the link below to see what is expected at the Mite Age Level.
